Oooh, how pretty. I've had this polish since Christmas(it was a gift from hubby). It called out to me this morning, so I just had to do a mani with it. No matter how hard I try, I can never get clean-up to look 100%. Ballz.
Hubby took me to have my nails done yesterday. He said that with all that I have been through lately, he wanted to do this for me. Which meant pay for them. HA! I thought I could try natural nails, but nope, don't like em on myself, so back to acrylics I went.
I walked into the salon with a bottle of my choice but when I was looking at their colors, I saw OPI's Greenwich Village and knew that is the color that I need to have on. I'm not sure it suits my skin tone though. I will give it a few days to see how I feel about it.
Also, I stopped at Walgreens and purchased a few colors from Sinful Colors Petal Pushers Collection. For only being $1.99(I totally missed the sale), they really do have some pretty colors. I just adore the little rings that come with it and I am sure once my niece sees them, she will take them hostage.
Hazard, Mint Apple, Savage and Amethyst. My Butter London Dosh also arrived in the mail that I purchased from eBay.
Tomorrow is another day and I can't wait to play around with these colors!!
Hubster got home at a reasonable time yesterday and asked how I was feeling. For the first time in a week or so, the headache was "tolerable", so we decided to grab something to eat for dinner. I only ate a BLT and fries but that was the first real food that I have eaten in 5 days! It tasted oh so yummy.
On our way home, he needed to stop at Rite-Aid and told me that he had seen they had nail polish on sale for 75% off. I wasn't planning on getting out of the car until he said that to me LOL.
They had select brands/colors but I noticed that the entire nail polish line was 75% off. Normally, these are $8.00 a bottle. What a deal! I grabbed all of the colors that I liked :) From L-R are:
Buon Viggio Mauve
And, since it was 75% off as well, I also grabbed Sally Hansen's Save The Dance. I can't wait to play around with these colors. w00t!
In the below post, I mentioned how my DIY product of filling in my own acrylic nails was an EPIC fail. I have been in and out of the hospital for the last two days now and ripped off my acrylics. Now, I have these chubby lil ugly man hands and I hate it! In doing so, it tore the crap outta my cuticles and nails.
I will NOT be without my acrylics(stated in entry below), but with me being as sick as I am, in and out of the hospital, it is nearly impossible for me to get another set put on. Maybe I can just cut the nails down, clip the cuticles and buff them like crazy and maybe so a sponge mani or something that will help since the nails seems "uneven".
Without acrylics, I have man hands. Pudgy stubs that have a nail with no substance. My real nails have no thickness and are soft and brittle. It doesn't matter what awesome product I use, I just don't like the look of my natural nails.
Last July for my b-day, I treated myself to acrylics. Ever since then, I have been getting a balance about every two weeks or so. I can not stand the look of my natural nails growing from the cuticle and my real nails grow fast. Paying $40 a month was starting to tick me off.
So, I came up with a brilliant idea and decided to go to Sally's and buy a DIY acrylic kit. Now, I realize there is a reason these girls have a license. Even though I followed instructions to the T, I messed up BIGTIME.
Having dried acrylic OVER your cuticles isn't fun and it hurt. I have no clue how it got all over the place(maybe I was being overly messy), but I had to run to the store and buy pure acetone. The soaking process took forever and I STILL didn't get all the acrylic off.
I am gonna feel like the biggest goober going back to my manicurist and telling her the story. *sigh* Lession learned, let the pro's handle the stuff that I don't nothing about.
When I was released from the hospital, I needed a new mani. Hearing the news of the tumor, one can imagine that I was in a down mood. I called home and spoke to my Dad. He asked what I was doing, and I told him that I wanted to paint my nails, but didn't know what color.
Dad suggested a "rainbow mani" which I corrected him and told him it was called a skittle mani :) He said "take a picture and send it home so I can see"(they live in the dinosaur years and don't own a computer).
I used all Julep colors except the middle one is OPI's Fly. So, this mani is for my daddy ♥
