Hello Kitty Mani

Yesterday, I decided it was time for a new set of acrylics.  I had them on since July and was in need of a new set.  If I don't have acrylics on, I think my hands look like man hands.  Kim(my manicurist) asked why I get them because I wear them at my regular nail length, which is pretty short.  But, they make me feel better, so that's all that matters.

I had all intentions of having my nails painted Wallis by Butter London, but then we got to talking about Hello Kitty and how much I thought she was cute, even at my age(soon to be 39).  Gah!  Sabrina is the girl who does nail art and she showed me the most adorable picture on her Ipad of a mani.  I tweaked it a bit and had the tips done with Wallis, hot pink polka dots, which she used acrylic paint for, then she used a nail art pen for the nose and whiskers and added rhinestones.  I couldn't believe how cute it turned out.

Here are a few up close pictures.  The bow she made it to look like it's 3D.  Awesome!

Celebrating 100 and Then Some Fans Giveaway

It is such a great feeling to be involved in a community with others who have the same passion as I do.

It's a sisterhood and a bond that nobody can understand, unless you are involved with it.

There are so many amazing friends that I have met in the polish world and I consider them to be life long friends.

It's funny, I was just talking to one of my polish buddies the other day, and I told her that internet friends are way cooler then real life friends.

Atleast for me they are.

I am never judged and always supported.

In 2007, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor.  Life for me has been extremely difficult as I was left with daily chronic headaches.

It has been very debilitating, to say the least.

Last week, I received bad news on my yearly MRI.  It seems that the gland is now 12x12mm(the size of a large grape) and is growing.

Right now, there is much uncertainty regarding my health.

One would think that in a time of need, your friends and family would be there for you through such a difficult time.

It's just the opposite.  Truth be told, many walked away.

I've only really gotten into nail polish a year or so ago.

It has now become a passion of mine as well as so many others.

At the end of the day, I have so many of you to thank for getting me through each day as it is a struggle to do it alone.

Ya'll are probably wondering why I am telling my life story in a polish blog and the answer is simple.

Because I owe you gals so much thanks for getting me this far.  Even though we never met and may never meet, you will always hold a special place in my heart and I appreciate your friendships.

*enough of the sappiness*

Ok, now on to the giveaway.  I am celebrating 100 and then some fans!  Go me!  I never thought in a million years that anybody would care what I had to say, but, I guess you do.

Mini Haul & Nail Mail

Tuesday was an ah-mazing day for me.  Hubster and I went to Ulta to use my gift certificate that I received for Christmas.  There, I bought Butter London's Fairy Lights & Tart With A Heart that came on this adorable dresser which was just made out of cardboard.  Wallis has been on my lemmings list, so I picked that up too.  Oh Butter London, where have you been my whole life!  I've seen many colors swatched but didn't think that I wanted to pay $14 for a bottle of polish.  So worth it.

In the mail that day, I got BL The Black Knight, which I simply adore.  A must have for all.  I felt so regal when I tried it on ;)  Also, I got a few mini bottles of OPI's Touring America collection and my It Girl Collection from Julep arrived as well.

In the kit was Hayden, a sherbet orange color, Leah, a green grass color, and Megan, a tealish color, as well as their topcoat.

Tonight, if hubby gets home at a reasonable time, I need to get a balance done and do believe that I am taking Wallis with me!

Julep Blake Review

Blake is part of the Julep Maven Boho Glam box.  Julep is in my top favorite 5 nail polishes of all time.

However, I am not sure how I feel about this one...yet.  Blake is sunny yellow in color.  For me, this is not a now polish.  I need to have a mega tan to wear this one, for sure.  Also, I am not happy with the application.  This was two coats but I really think that three would have done the trick as I still can see bear spots and some slight streaking.

I'm not giving up on this one.  I know it has tons of potential.  Something layered over this would look ah-mazing as well to tone down the color if I wanted to wear it now.

There is plenty of opportunities for this one!

Liebster Blog Award

What a day I had yesterday.  It was so full of appointment and errands, that I was on the go from 11 am until 8 pm last night.  When I got home, I crashed on the sofa but a little while, but when I woke up, I decided that I would check my emails.

Julep's Boho Glam & Zoya Nail Mail

In yesterdays mail came my MIL Maven Box from Julep.  It's from the Boho Glam collection.  In it was the hand brightener(this stuff is ah-mazing) and the colors are Heather(a chic platinum greige with a metallic glow) and Blake(a creamy butter yellow).

Also, from Zoya's promo, I received Ivy(a reddish-russet shimmer with strong rose and purple undertones and flecks of gold glitter) and Dannii(a medium orchid purple with pink and champagne highlights and flecks of silver metallic shimmer).  I just had to have Dannii since that is my nickname, but just spelled differently =)

I can not wait to swatch these.  Hopefully, in the next day or so, I can do that, since my weekend will be filled watching my niece and nephew overnight.

Purple Splatter Mani

Cheryl's Nails

Cheryl is my Mother In Law.  I was having such a bad yesterday, so she popped on over for a visit.  My MIL never wears nailpolish, her job doesn't allow it.  Luckily, she has a day off and wanted me to do her nails..

Hey, I am just an average joe, I have no special talents, but I guess this was her way of bonding with me when I was down.  She chose OPI's LLL and SH Razzle Dazzle.  It was so cute that she grabbed the bottle and told me to take her picture and post it.  So not like her LOL.

So, there ya have it.  My MIL first ever mani =)

Nicki Swatches...Done REALLY Fast

First of all, let me apologize for the crap picture.  I did the swatches REALLY fast, after I got upset :(

Let me explain the colors first.  The thumb is done with Save Me, the index is plain(and I will get to that later), the middle finger is Fly, which so happens to be my favorite out of this collection, the ring finger is Pink Friday and the pinky is Metallic 4 Life.  I did not buy Super Bass as I am not a fan of shatter.

So, I thought that I would do each nail a different color to see what the whole collection looked like.  When I first opened my bottle of Save Me, the polish stank so bag, I almost gagged.  Fo' real!  Once I got past the horrible smell, I went on to the next color, which was Did It On 'Em.  I applied it just like I do with every other color and it was watery and streaky.  I let the first coat dry and then applied a second coat, which was just as worst.  WTH?  The brushes on this collection even seem different. 

I had no problems at all with Fly.  I am not usually a "blue" kinda gal, but I love this color.  On to Pink Friday. *sigh*  This took me three coats and was streaky as well.  *smh*.  Metallic 4 life is...meh IMHO.

I was totally stoked to get this collection and at the price of $17.50 from Bloom.com, I couldn't pass up that deal, since there was such a good hype over it.  I wish I would have passed on this collection and bought something that I will use.

Dunno, maybe I will use the colors when I do a splatter mani, but, I surely won't be wearing them alone.  Boo, to you OPI, this is the worst collection by far.

OPI Nicki Minaj Collection

YAY!  My order from Bloom.com came yesterday.  I decided to get OPI's Nicki Minaj collection, minus the shatter.  I am not a shatter fan.  I also got Zoya's Tao with that order.  All for $17 and some change.  I also got three little sample packs too in an adorable organza bag.

It's My Year

My newest mani is from OPI and called It's My Year.  They had the entire Nicki Minaj collection, but wouldn't you know it, each color was being used by a client.  That's ok though as my collection will be here tomorrow from Bloom.com.
